Sun Tsu The Art of War (trans. Griffith, 1963)

Some of what this guy had to say about war is oddly close to what good managers should do:

• Get the strategy right
• Get your information from the right sources – “Advance knowledge cannot not be gained from ghosts or spirits, but must be obtained from people who know the enemy situation” (good advice on gaining knowledge on markets)
• Stay focused – leave no room for sentiment or distraction
