Emerging countries have to fight harder to sell to a harder-to-reach, most cost-conscious consumer base, meaning that their innovations can threaten the Western world on more than just price.
Western companies, then, need to immerse themselves in emerging economies in order to gain capabilities and cost benefits to reach these markets
