DiMaggio and Powell (1983)

Management > Comparative Management > Lectures > Independent Research >DiMaggio and Powell > 3 Types of isomorphism > Various hypotheses

Various hypotheses

Hypothesis A. “The more dependent an organisation is on another organisation, the more similar it will become to that organisation in structure, climate and behavioural focus”. (coercive)

Hypothesis A3. “The more uncertain the relationship between means and ends the greater extent to which an organisation will model itself after organisations it perceives to be successful.” (mimetic)

Hypothesis A5. “The greater the reliance on academic credentials in choosing managerial and staff personnel, the greater extent to which an organisation will become like other organisations in its field.”

The more complex the relational networks, the greater the collective organisation of the environment

Hypothesis B3. “The fewer the number of visible alternative organisational models in a field, the faster the rate of isomorphism in that field”.
