Nanjing Automotive Corporation (NAC)Management > Other Independent Research > NAC
Nanjing Automotive Corporation (NAC)NAC bought MGRover in July, 2005. The company is a State Owned Enterprise and is China's leader in auto model conversion technology. The company have embarked upon a variety of joint ventures, including Fiat/Iveco. It has lots of experience with designing trucks. I aims to set up production plants in Longbridge in the UK (this MG factory was one of the most important factories in Europe), although it will produce some of the parts in China, due to lower manufacturing costs. NAC is keeping the MG name and selling it to China and exporting it across the world, using its own networks for China and MG's networks for global exports. It plans to use the R&D staff in both the UK and China. The firm is looking for a strategic partner in the UK. It has spoken with GB Sports Ltd, which would be a good move, as they specialise in sports cars, a segment in which MG was placed. SAIC also bought IP rights to the Rover75, so there is a chance that the two companies could bring these models to the market.
