This relates to long-standing issues in globalisation debates.

1. Does the global flexibility and asset strength of the MNEs mean they can undermine the sovereignty policy independency of the host countries (monetary, industrial, policies)?
2. Do operations not genuinely help host countries' development in the long term and only exploit their resources in the short term?
