Recruitment and trainingThe status of employees is important, such as their family connections and personal status. Authority is to be respected, as their status is obviously higher than that of the subordinate. There are increasing numbers of graduates in China, which is good, as the educated talen pool is not too high in many Chinese firms. Training if often given in terms of the person's status, rather than a functional need. Overseas training is very much valued by employees (seen as a reward). English training is important, which not only builds skills, but self-respect and their position within the community and workforce.
