Pick 'n' Mix

I talked to a study advisor about this, because I was concerned about trying to read and remember every tiny last detail. She said that the exams are less a big memory test, but more about going away and thinking lots about what's important and why. It's more showing understanding than memorising (though that helps a bit!)

What I've found works for me is going through the lecture notes, figuring out the main topics of each lecture and then picking a few subjects to work on. I think about what information is important, as in why the lecturer taught us this bit of information, or that topic, and how it fits into the course as a whole.

I then look up some articles/books/etc. around these handful of subjects and then come up with some of my own ideas about them. The addition of this latter technique helps it stay in your head.
