GSM Lecture 8

Management > Global Strategic Management > Globalisation

Globalisation

Globalisation is the increase of cross-border interdependence and integration of production and markets for goods, services and capital. It is an continual process, rather than a one-off event. It results in the blending of cultures, the homogenisation of consumer tastes and standardisation of products.

The increasing interdependence of activities overseas has led companies to seek out collaborations with other firms. Although R&D is the main reason for these behaviours, this is part of a bigger trend, referred to as the "age of alliance capitalism"
