Global and Transnational strategy

To achieve transnational strategies and global competitiveness, a firm needs to "achieve a competitive advantage which is sustainable". Competitive advantage can be achieved through:

  • Superior performance
  • Strategy
  • Core competences
  • Innovation
  • Configuration/architecture
  • Co-ordination/integration
  • Responsiveness

Sustainability requires:

  • Ability to build and use knowledge-based core competences
  • Ability to co-ordinate/integrate global activities better than competitors
  • Ability to continuously innovate/improve
  • Ability of competitors to imitate/surpass another business's performance
  • Depends on changes in the environment
