Telecommunications in businessTeleconferencing and videoconferencing facilitate business across wide regions of the globe. They will save thousands of dollars in travel (and they are more environmentally friendly as well, which is good for a firm's image in this fashionable time of "green" business). Groupware is a technology which supports collaborative work, including discussions, working on shared documents and projects. EDI (Electronic Data Interchange) is a technology for doing business, where invoices, bills and purchasing orders are transferred between computers. This provides strategic benefits by locking in customers and making it easier for them to make future purchases from you, rather than your competitors. Organisations most benefit from using EDI when they integrate data supplied by EDI with applications such as accounts payable, inventory control, shipping and production.
