Advantages The advantages of a global matrix structure include the greater co-ordination and integration of global activities and the geographical divisions increase their local responsiveness. They are not like strict hierarchies, meaning they can have managers with product responsibilities and those with regional responsibilities, as can be seen from the diagram. Disadvantages With regards to disadvantages, the image shows that duplication may occur from the overlapping of divisional responsibilities and shared responsibilities can cause conflict between divisions. This can result in a waste of resources being wasted on trying to reach a compromise and can increase administration costs.
