SpiritualityThere are two sides to human experience - rational and emotional. They are inextricably linked, although we are often asked at work to separate them and leave our emotions at home. People vary in the extent their rational and emotional sides are integrated (women are generally more integrated than men, who can more easily separate logic from emotion), but both sides are needed in an organisation. Spirituality is viewed as both "personal and universal at the same time". "Spirituality is the intense feeling of not only being integrated as a whole person but also being connected with everything else in the universe" When major crises occur, they disrupt continuity, resulting in the spirituality and meaning in our lives to become fragmented. CEOs need to be aware of this and take action to preserve the spirituality of its employees when a crisis occurs.
