Logistics"Companies that continue to control the supply chain end-to-end have lost their competitive advantage". Horizontal relationships are the way of the future. Breaking down the vertical structure allows a company to be more agile in a market that requires a speedy response. With this freedom "timely data enables a company to act quickly on small windows of opportunity". They essentially have a zero turning circle. Supply Chain Logistics "Information and trust are the fundamental basis of every profitable relationship". Both vertical and horizontal relationships are important. "To build trust in relationships with partners and suppliers in any aspect of the supply chain management requires transparency". This will result in better communication between parties and faster responses to demands. Transparency in all a business's relationships makes everyone happier and increases efficiency. Operational Logistics Operational logistics are important, as well as supply chain logistics. For example, in retailing, if a sale on a certain line of clothing occurs, then all the stores of that company need to know, as otherwise this can lead to disgruntled customer and erode the credibility of the firm.
