Wal-Mart

Wal-Mart is a prime example of a firm with great supply chain and operational management.

On September 11, 2001, the demand for American flags rose in the same day from 6,400 to 116,000. By September 12, the demand had risen to 200,000.

Wal-Mart's superior information and transparency with its suppliers and all its stores enabled it to react immediately and restock its flags in good time.
